Every year, seasoned Olympic-medal athletes and excited enthusiasts alike convene on the shores of Oualie Beach in Nevis for the Caribbean’s premier open water swimming event, The Cross Channel Swim. The challenge: to make it across the 4 kilometer-long open water “Narrows” strait that separates St. Kitts and Nevis—where the waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet.
The event starts early, with swimmers meeting on the beach just as the sun is set to rise. Within hours, they meet once more on St. Kitts’ Cockshell Beach, this time with the added satisfaction of completing a one-of-a-kind open water swim across two sister islands in the Caribbean. The journey is both a challenge and reward; a chance to test your own limits, experiencing the invigorating rush of St. Kitts in a brand new light.
